Greater Noida Authority Approves Phase-I
The Greater Noida Authority approved the ₹756.01 crore first phase of the double-decker elevated road project during its 144th board meeting held in September 2026.
Hindustan Times reported that the proposal was approved at the Authority’s 144th board meeting, with NHAI having prepared the detailed project report (DPR) for the proposed corridor.
The first phase is planned to connect the Delhi-Meerut Expressway with Ek Murti Chowk, providing a new elevated connection for traffic moving between Greater Noida West and the expressway network. The remaining part of the wider connectivity plan is expected to be taken up separately.
NHAI has been involved in preparing the DPR and is expected to undertake construction of the project. The proposal emerged after officials examined alternative solutions for dealing with congestion in the area.
Why a Double-Decker Road Was Considered
The Shahberi area presents a particular infrastructure challenge because of its relatively narrow existing road and extensive surrounding development.
The Times of India reported that an earlier proposal for a single elevated road was reconsidered because it was not considered sufficient to handle the expected traffic pressure. A double-decker configuration was subsequently selected for the relevant section of the project.
The Greater Noida West–Shahberi–Crossings Republik area has also experienced substantial residential development in recent years. The concentration of group-housing projects has increased the importance of efficient road connectivity between these locations and major regional highways.
Greater Noida West Double-Decker Road: Better Connectivity Towards the Delhi-Meerut Expressway
One of the key objectives of the project is to strengthen the connection between Greater Noida West and the Delhi-Meerut Expressway (DME/NH-9).
The approved first phase is intended to create an elevated route between the Delhi-Meerut Expressway and Ek Murti Chowk. Officials have said the project is expected to improve movement between Greater Noida, Greater Noida West and the expressway network.
For residents and commuters, improved connectivity could help provide an alternative to some of the existing congested road sections.

Project Cost and Participation of Authorities
The approved Phase-I cost is ₹756.01 crore.
Reports indicate that the cost is expected to be shared among the Yamuna Expressway Authority, Noida Authority, Greater Noida Authority and Ghaziabad Authority. Another Major Road Link Towards the Eastern Peripheral Expressway
The Greater Noida Authority also approved a separate connectivity proposal involving a 105-metre-wide road towards the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE).
According to officials, the broader road connection is intended to improve connectivity towards the EPE and the Dadri-Sikandrabad region. NHAI is expected to construct the road, while the Greater Noida Authority will undertake the required land acquisition.
This project is separate from the double-decker elevated road, but together the infrastructure proposals indicate a wider effort to strengthen road connectivity around Greater Noida and its surrounding growth areas.
